About Amy
Amy Hughes - Counsellor and Psychotherapist
Hi! my name is Amy and I am an online therapist. I specialised in online and telephone counselling in 2020 during COVID lockdown. It was incredibly important for the world to stay connected in those times and I realised how powerful therapy could be without necessarily being in the same room. My interest for online therapy grew and since then I have done many courses to become more specialised in online work and created my own private practice, Start Blossoming.
I have had many careers in my life, including children’s nursing looking after neonatal babies and working on a specialist burns ward in Essex, so caring for others has always been a passion of mine. In 2017 I began my counselling training at Keele university and found Counselling and Psychotherapy to be my true purpose in life. I enjoy helping others see their potential, working one on one to achieve a client’s goals and most importantly, experiencing the magical moment where things click into place for a client and they realise they are truly worthy.
When I am not working I enjoy a quiet life, spending time with my husband, son and black Labrador Frank, walking in nature or taking a pit stop at a coffee shop. Friends would describe me as creative, quirky and kind which I feel summarises my passions in life!
I believe its important to celebrate everyone’s uniqueness and I strive to create a private practice that helps others prioritise their growth and relationship with themselves. Start Blossoming was named to highlight the processes that we aim for in therapy, but also signifying that the growth continues throughout the rest of your life with the skills you gained from your sessions. I believe therapy is a investment into your future self, and that what you learn can last you a lifetime.
